FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Jobsite Security?

Today's cloud-connected security technologies can be very effective in protecting construction sites and other remote areas with minimal infrastructure.  Motion sensor floodlight cameras, for instance, are perfectly suited to the job.  However, the lack of infrastructure and lack of a secure location to put the necessary equipment makes this difficult, risky, and subject to fail.  We've solved this set of problems by making a rental system available that can live on the temporary electrical pole at your jobsite.

What do I do if my jobsite is accessed outside our construction hours?

In the event your jobsite is accessed outside normal construction hours you'll receive a notification on your phone.  Typically you would then tap the notification to retrieve live video and audio, optionally trigger the system siren, and if appropriate contact your police department or local security patrol.

Why can't I do this without you?

You can.  Indeed, its increasingly common for contractors to protect their jobsites with cameras.  But to do so in a way where it isn't likely to be disabled, stolen, in the way of construction, tampered with, etc is difficult - so we've engineered a solution that lives in a box, on a pole.  Some of the obstacles we've overcome to make this a trustworthy solution include:

  • Lack of Infrastructure
  • Weatherproofing
  • Equipment Ventilation - 8 Fans
  • Visual Deterrence - Red LED Lights on Enclosure
  • Power Conditioning and Battery Backup
  • Remote Rebooting and Auto-Reboot Algorithms
  • Anti-theft and anti-tampering hardware.
  • Cloud Monitoring of Equipment Tampering
  • Cloud Notifications of Internet Outages, Power Outages, Backup Battery Failures, Hard Drive failures, and other trouble conditions.
  • Secondary (Backup) Internet Connection Options
  • Mobile Data Connection Options.  Cable/DSL/Fios Options.
  • Hardwired Surveillance Recording that continues recording in power and internet outages for up to 30 minutes.
  • Local and cloud storage of surveillance activity.
  • System Expand-ability for Cameras and Wifi Access Points
  • Cameras can be outfitted on either side or both sides of the enclosure to meet the jobsite's needs.
  • Redundant hard drives that can withstand a drive failure without losing footage.
  • 120dB Tamper Siren with Cloud Alerting
  • Options for armored conduit installation for the wiring.

How many cameras do I need?

Most jobsites can be adequately monitored from one or two vantage points.  The "Base Plus" system is the most cost-effective way to cover two vantage points.  In most cases one view will be streetside and the other will be at the opposite end of the property.

My construction site has specialty requirements.  Will your system work for me?

Jobsite Security Systems are purpose-built to accommodate a wide array of physical environments and camera requirements.  If the wide selection of Rental System Add-Ons do not meet your needs we can always customize a solution for your jobsite.  Please use the Contact Us form if your project has specialty requirements.

What is the key difference between the 'Base' systems and 'Enhanced' systems?

The key difference is that 'Enhanced' systems add one or more professional grade surveillance camera and a local, onsite recorder.  In conjunction with a backup battery, the system can continue to record for 20-30 minutes if power and internet are severed or lost.

Which apps will I use?

The Ring® app will be your primary interface for the camera and motion floodlights.  Notifications of motion detected will be received through the Ring® app and scheduled through the app as well.

"Enhanced" systems with the additional hardwired cameras will also use "DS Cam" by Synology® for real time viewing of cameras and review of recorded footage.

Will the police automatically be called if there is an alarm?

No.  This is not like having a traditional security system that results in police or a security company automatically showing up if alarms are triggered.  It is designed for the contractor or homeowner - or both - to have a way to know if the property has been accessed at an inappropriate time, view the property in real time, trigger a siren, record the trespassing, and if needed alert the authorities.

Is this like a home alarm system?

No, but we do offer a rental system add-on option for a Ring Alarm system.  This operates as an intrusion system but when included in our rental is not setup to contact the police in the event of a triggered alarm.  Customers can optionally direct alarm triggers to local security patrols if user maintains a subscription to a local security patrol.

What do I do when I'm ready to schedule system removal?

Please use the Contact Us form to let us know you're ready to schedule removal, or visit Customer Account Login to cancel your subscription and we will contact you to schedule removal.

What do I do if my system goes offline?

If you receive a notification that your system is offline please submit a trouble report at our Support Page.  In most cases we respond within 2-4 business hours.

How long does installation take?

It can take up to 3 weeks for your installation date, but once underway the install should not exceed 2-6 hours.

Which model is right for me?

Cost aside, the "Enhanced Plus" setup is the best way to go whenever possible.  The hardwired cameras with a recorder for front and back of the jobsite are the only way to overcome brief internet and power outages.

Additionally, customers operating in heightened security environments should require a backup (redundant) internet connection.

What happens if a rental system is not returned at the end of the rental agreement - or is damaged, destroyed or stolen?

 The following fee schedule applies:

  • Cloud camera replacement: $250
  • Pro camera replacement: $400
  • Base System Main Unit: $2250
  • Enhanced System Main Unit: $2850
  • Remote Door or Window Sensor Replacement: $25
